How to Switch from Demo to Live Tags

The way you switch from the demo (tag-demo.mention-me.com) to the live (tag.mention-me.com) environment depends on how Mention Me is installed. Pick your integration below.

Switching from DEMO to LIVE Mention Me tags.

Update your tag URLs

Remove -demo- from your Mention Me JavaScript tag URLs wherever they appear in your code. For example, change tag-demo.mention-me.com to tag.mention-me.com in all relevant script links.

Publish your changes

Save and publish your changes to your live website.

In the Mention Me Shopify app there is no code to change. Switch the app’s environment from Demo to Production.

Open the app settings

In Shopify Admin, open the Mention Me app.

Switch the environment to Production

Change the environment setting from Demo to Production.

Save

Save your changes. The app now loads the live (tag.mention-me.com) environment.

Community template

If you deployed the Mention Me tags through a Custom HTML tag in GTM, switch the environment in the tag URL.

Update your Custom HTML tags

In each Mention Me Custom HTML tag, switch the tag URL from tag-demo.mention-me.com to tag.mention-me.com, once you’ve verified the integration end-to-end.

Preview and publish

Use GTM’s Preview mode to confirm the tags still fire, then publish the container.

The Mention Me Referral Tag GTM template has no URLs to edit. You switch environments with the tag’s Environment field.

Open each Mention Me tag

In Google Tag Manager, go to Tags and open each Mention Me Referral Tag.

Set Environment to Live

Change the Environment field from Test to Live. Live sends events to tag.mention-me.com; Test sends them to tag-demo.mention-me.com.

Publish your container

Save each tag, then Submit and publish your GTM container.
