Mention Me uses a limited set of cookies to enhance the user experience during the referral journey. Referrals are primarily tracked through tags and customer emails, not cookies. Our cookies do not track users across other sites. Mention Me offers a cookieless solution for clients using Cookie Management Platforms, ensuring referral programme functionality is not hindered by cookie miscategorisation.

Cookies we use

  • mm_id — Identifies unique browsers to control fraudulent use of the referral programme by linking up referrals by the same customer. Strictly necessary for service provision under PECR 6(4)(b).
  • mm_allocation — Manages consistency of offers shown during A/B testing. Optional. Without it, a small minority of customers might choose which A/B test variation they see.
  • mm_overlay_suppressed — Suppresses a corner peel promotion after the user clicks “x”. Without it, the corner peel reappears on page refresh.
  • mm_conversion_message_suppressed — Suppresses the conversion message after the user clicks “x”. Optional. Without it, the message reappears on page refresh.
  • mm_offer_frequency — Tracks how many times a user sees an offer so it is shown in moderation. Optional. Without it, frequency capping is unavailable.
  • Google Analytics — Tracks and reports on customer journey performance in aggregate. Optional. Opting out prevents all Google cookies from being dropped.
If you categorise our cookies as non-essential in your Cookie Management Platform, it may disrupt tag functions and impact referral tracking and rewards. This could prevent many customers from seeing your referral programme. If you want a cookieless experience or need to classify our cookies differently, let us know and we will adjust accordingly. This is a complex area — please talk to your Client Manager or Tech team if you have further questions.
