Early access. This section documents Campaigns in Mention Me, currently available as a beta. For Classic docs, see The Campaigns & Preview Section.
Campaigns is where you set up what your referral programme offers, who sees it, and how it looks, then launch it, test it, and watch it perform.

The Two Campaign Types

Campaigns has a page per campaign type, each a sub-item under Campaigns in the sidebar. Almost nothing you configure on one applies to the other, which is why they are separate.

Brand referral campaigns

A customer recommends your brand to a friend. They enrol in your offer, share it, and both sides are rewarded when the friend buys. There is a full journey to design: pages, emails, copy, imagery and sharing options.

Product referral campaigns

A customer shares an individual product, usually by copying its page URL. There is no enrolment and no journey to design. Mention Me attributes the orders those shares drive, and an offer for the arriving friend is optional.
For the thinking behind the two, see Understanding Brand and Product Referral.

What Every Campaign Has in Common

Whichever type you are working on, the same machinery sits underneath.
  • A campaign is the top-level container for one locale. It holds many versions, but only one is live at a time.
  • A version is one iteration of that campaign. You build it in the campaign editor, launch it, and it becomes the thing customers see.
  • The campaign editor is a canvas of nodes, one per part of the experience. Click a node to open its editor.
  • Launching the first version is what takes the campaign itself live. After that, you replace, queue or schedule versions.
  • Read-only once live. To change a live campaign you create a new draft version, edit it, and launch it.

Campaigns, versions and promotions

The model behind it all, and the statuses a version moves through.

The campaign editor

How the canvas works, which nodes each campaign type gets, and the rules for what you can edit.

Set up a version

Create a version and configure it, ready to launch.

Launch and schedule

Go live now, queue a version behind the current one, or schedule a time-limited promotion.

Monitor a live version

Track performance from the insights panel, and act on recommendations.

The campaigns list

Browse, search and act on campaigns from either list page.

Configuring Each Type

The nodes on the canvas differ, and so do the settings behind the Settings control. Each type has its own guide:

Brand referral configuration

Trigger, rewards, sharing, branding, images, copy, campaign settings, fraud controls and A/B testing.

Product referral configuration

Campaign modes, the share link, the holdout and tracking settings.

Key Terms

  • Campaign. The top-level container for a referral programme in a single locale (language and region). A campaign holds many versions but only one is live at a time.
  • Version. A single iteration of a campaign that you edit on the canvas. Versions move through statuses (draft, live, queued, past) as you roll them out.
  • Promotion. A time-limited version with a start date, an end date, and a last date for friends to qualify. Use it for seasonal or limited-run offers.
  • Node. A card on the canvas representing one part of the experience, for example Rewards or Sharing. Click a node to edit it.
  • Variant. One side of an A/B test. The starting point is the control; you edit the alternative to test against it.
  • Holdout. On a product referral campaign, the share of referred visitors held back from the incentive so you can measure what it adds.
