# FAQs

> Commonly asked questions about the Mention Me Shopify App, including Shopify Plus requirements, Web Pixels, and checkout extensions.

  <Accordion title="What best practice do you have for the Shopify App?">
    We have written a [best practice guide](/knowledge/shopify/checkout-extensibility) to help advise on setting up your Shopify App to maximise performance.

  <Accordion title="Do I need to be on Shopify Plus?">
    You can use the Post Purchase and Product Referral extension without Shopify Plus.

    The "Been referred by a friend?" experience cannot be added to the Shopify Checkout without Shopify Plus. If you are not a Shopify Plus client, use the [standard Referee Integration](/knowledge/shopify/legacy-tags) on a page earlier in your checkout, such as a Cart page or slide-out cart.

  <Accordion title="Can we use Shopify Web Pixels alongside or instead of the App?">
    Shopify Web Pixels cannot display any UI to the customer. They can only send analytics events to third parties. UI such as the "Been referred by a friend?" experience pre-purchase, or the referral promotion post-purchase, cannot be added using Web Pixels.

    You could theoretically use Shopify Web Pixels for order tracking, but not for promotion. As promoting at the point of delight (i.e. post purchase) is the **most important promotion point**, use the Mention Me Shopify App instead.

  <Accordion title="Can I install the App before upgrading to Checkout Extensions?">
    Yes. You can install and configure the app before upgrading. The app won't do anything until you go live with Checkout Extensibility in Shopify.

    You **must** keep the Referrer tag in additional scripts until you upgrade Checkout Extensibility on your Post Purchase page.

  <Accordion title="Can the Referrer Journey open with a pop-up?">
    No. Shopify does not allow popups unless a user clicks a button or link first. Their alternative is the "Announcement" banner. The Mention Me Shopify App supports the Announcement — follow our [integration instructions](/knowledge/shopify/app-installation) to set it up.

  <Accordion title="Does the Shopify App support pages outside of Checkout Extensibility?">
    No. For Landing Pages or adding the Referee journey earlier in your checkout (like a side cart), use the standard Mention Me Tag integration via our [legacy tags guide](/knowledge/shopify/legacy-tags).
