# Set Up Dotdigital with Mention Me

> Connect your Dotdigital account to Mention Me to sync referral data, opt-ins, and enable pre-built programs.

## About the integration

Engage your top fans by integrating first-party advocacy data into Dotdigital, boosting engagement, retention, and revenue.

## Integration capabilities

* Real-time transfer of contact data and opt-ins from Mention Me referrals to Dotdigital
* Create coupon email reminders using referral data
* Enhance marketing channel performance by targeting high-value customers with referral data

## Prerequisites

* **Dotdigital** — Ability to [create API Users](https://developer.dotdigital.com/docs/setting-up-an-api-user).
* **Mention Me** — Access to the [Mention Me platform](https://mention-me.com/login). Contact your Mention Me CSM or [submit a support request](https://help.mention-me.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) if needed.

## Step 1: Create API key in Dotdigital

    [Log in](https://login.dotdigital.com/) to Dotdigital with API User creation access.

  <Step title="Navigate to API users">
    Navigate to Settings > Access > API users. [Learn more about creating your API user](https://developer.dotdigital.com/docs/setting-up-an-api-user).

  <Step title="Create and save API user">
    Click **Create API User** and fill in:

    * Use the pre-filled email
    * Description: *Mention Me*
    * Create a password
    * Set Rate Limiting to **Tiered**
    * Status: **enabled**
    * Note the API User email and Password for Step 2
    * Click **Save**

## Step 2: Set up the integration in Mention Me

    On the [Mention Me platform](https://mention-me.com/merchant/~/integrations/dotdigital), click **Connect**.

  <Step title="Accept terms and conditions">
    Agree to the Terms and Conditions for data transfer to Dotdigital (if not done previously).

  <Step title="Click New Authentication">
    Click **New authentication**.

  <Step title="Name your authentication">
    Name your authentication for easy recognition, especially if using multiple Dotdigital accounts.

  <Step title="Enter API credentials">
    Enter the information from Step 1 and click **Create**:

    * API User
    * API Password
    * Your Dotdigital Environment / Region (r1, r2, or r3)

    <Note>If you do not know your Dotdigital region, you can leave it blank and the integration will fill it in for you.</Note>

  <Step title="Choose newsletter list">
    Choose the newsletter list for Mention Me opt-ins.

  <Step title="Select countries to sync">
    Select the country(ies) to sync with your Dotdigital account.

  <Step title="Complete the setup">
    Click **Connect** to complete the setup. A confirmation message will confirm it's successfully connected.

    Mention Me events and contacts will now sync with your Dotdigital account, allowing you to utilise Mention Me data in Programs and segmentation. For further assistance, contact your Mention Me CSM or [submit a support request](https://help.mention-me.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new).

Pre-built templates make it easy to activate your advocacy data through Dotdigital:
