# Customer Settings
> Data retention windows and referee reactivation rules for your account.
The Customer settings panel controls two things: how long Mention Me retains customer records, and how long after a customer's last purchase they can still claim a referee reward. Open it from the gear icon in the top right of the [Customers landing page](/knowledge-v2/customers/browse/customer-list).
## Data Retention
Mention Me purges customer records automatically once they cross the retention window you set here. Records past the window are deleted as if you'd manually purged them.
| Setting | What it controls | Default |

| **Referees who haven't purchased** | How long to keep a referee who arrived but never bought. | 2 years |
| **Uninterested referrers** | How long to keep someone who saw an offer but never engaged further. | Forever |
| **Referrers who don't share** | How long to keep someone who engaged with an offer but never sent it on. | 4 years |
Set any of the three to **Forever** to disable purging for that group.
## Referee Reactivation
When an existing customer is later referred by a friend, the **reactivation period** decides whether they can still claim a referee reward. The clock starts on their **most recent purchase**.
* **Reactivation period (months)**. Whole months, 0 to 240.
* Set to **0** to disable reactivation entirely. Existing customers who get a fresh share won't be eligible for a referee reward.
* Default for new accounts is **12 months**.
## Saving
Click **Save** to apply. The settings take effect immediately and the changes are recorded on your account's audit log.
