# How to Draft Your First Campaign
> Create the first referral campaign from the Onboarding Hub so you have a draft ready when you launch.
The **Draft your first campaign** step creates a campaign and a first draft version. You are not launching anything yet. Launch happens later, from the launch checklist. See [Understanding Prepare to Launch and Campaign Launch](/knowledge-app/onboarding/understanding-prepare-and-launch).
On the [Onboarding Hub](/knowledge-app/onboarding/overview), click **Draft
your first campaign**. The **Create campaign** dialog opens.
Enter a **Campaign name** and choose the **Language** (locale) it will run
in. The locale sets the language, country and currency for the campaign.
Click **Create campaign**. Mention Me creates the campaign with a first
draft version and opens it in the editor.
Set rewards, journeys and sharing in the editor. You do not need to finish
every section before returning to the hub. You can come back to the draft at
any time from **Campaigns**.
You cannot launch this campaign until you have prepared to launch and reached
the launch checklist. The **Launch** button stays unavailable with a prompt to
finish setting up your programme first.
If the branding step is still detecting, this row waits with **Waiting for your branding to finish setting up…**.
